Kelas Jurnalistik hari ini

Hari ini, 22 Oktober 2018,   saya mengajar eskul Jurnalistik di Laboratorium Komputer SMPK 6 PENABUR. Ada 11 murid d dalam kelas. Mereka semua murid kelas 8.

Why Standardized Testing Will Never Work

This is another interesting article about testing. Why Standardized Testing Will Never Work  The original article was written by Andrew Campbell who teaches grades 4 and 5 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. You can click this link to read the article http://www.joebower.org/2012/11/why-standardized-testing-will-never-work.html . In the beginning of the article there is a picture of a pipe.  Then, this is the excerpt from the article: This is an image of Belgian artist RenĂ© Magritte ‘s famous painting “ The Treachery of Images “, painted in 1928-29 when Magritte was 30 years old. I’m sure it would take several art history courses to discuss what it means so I won’t try, but I will share my opinion. Magritte is quoted as saying “…it’s just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture “This is a pipe,” I’d have been lying!”. Magritte is discussing the nature of representations. He’s saying that no matter how good a representation is, it can neve...

School Testing In U.S. Costs $1.7 Billion, But That May Not Be Enough: Report

Do you ever wonder about school testing? I have the article about it. Although, the article is about school testing in US, it is a worthy article to read.  School Testing In U.S. Costs $1.7 Billion, But That May Not Be Enough: Report Matt Chingos has an idea that will likely roil the scores of parents and teachers who think the U.S. tests its students too much: we might actually spend too little on standardized testing. But he's not alone. "He shows, that with the debate about testing in this country -- it costs too much money -- it's absolutely wrong," said David Coleman, president of the College Board, the company that administers the SATs. In a report released Thursday titled "State Spending on K-12 Assessments," Chingos, a fellow at the Brookings Institute, tallied up the cost of standardized testing, a subject that has fueled much debate and speculation. After sending out countless Freedom of Information Act requests and rummaging thro...
